When you’re doing a kitchen remodel, always budget cash and space for your major appliances. You’ll need a fair amount of both, but then without appliances like a kitchen range, oven hood, dishwasher, and microwave, it wouldn’t be much of a kitchen. You’re also gonna hurt yourself cooking in the dark and squinting at recipes, so plan for the perfect lighting.
Now, remember this?
French Country kitchen design? I’ve been obsessing over it all week. Read here, for the design basics. Here, for my shopping guide for sinks and faucets in the style. And here, to check out backsplash, tile, countertops, and flooring to complete the rustic charm. I’ve got you all set up.
Pick the right Kitchen Ranges and Ovens
You say kitchen range, I say stove, he says oven. The names are pretty interchangeable in common use, but you want a kitchen range (the whole thing) with a built in oven (the part that bakes) and cooktops. And you want it in a simple traditional style with light colors.
For a lot of power, space, and personalization, go straight for theDCS Pro Style Dual Fuel Range. It has 5 sealed dual flow burners, a 26 000 BTU griddle, and the oven is self cleaning!
For a nice, traditional and compact option, it’s the Aga A64 NG Six Four series. It’s a cast iron dual natural fuel range in a signature color.
With all the amenities you expect and design you wouldn’t, pick the Heartland Classic Collection 48 Dual Fuel Range. Enjoy the electric convection self-cleaning, concealed electronic controls, and 350 CFM exhuast system.
Go back in time with your kitchen design and maybe it’ll take you less time to do the cooking. The Bertazzoni Heritage 48 Traditional Style Gas Range has 6 sealed burners. It’s a 29 cu ft European convection oven.
The Ilve Majestic Collection 36 Traditional Style Dual Fuel Range, with 4 sealed burners, 10 500 BTU fish burner, and a 28 cu ft manual clean European convection oven, is another great retro choice.
And a Range Hood for Good Measure, Good Safety
Any French Country kitchen and any of the ranges above would benefit from this Broan NuTone 35 7 16 inch Chimney Range Hood.
Useful and architecturally beautiful- a much more European look than stainless steel. To complement instead of contrast a traditional style, you’ll want this Broan NuTone RMIP33 33 Pro Style Range Hood.
Refrigerators: the Fancy Modern Icebox
Your refrigerator is another go-to appliance. Plus, it’s really big. So pick the right one for your needs and your style. Again, go for neutrals like white, cream, or stainless steel.
There’s only one refrigerator that will blend in perfectly with a French Country kitchen, and it’s the Aga AFHR 36. It’s 20 cu ft, perfectly counter depth, and the bottom freezer is as spacious as the refrigerator.
Seriously state of the art. This Aga APRO36FD PRO French door refrigerator will make you so happy you won’t mind about any kitchen design.
They Didn’t Have Dishwashers but You Can
The best part of picking traditional styles is that you aren’t stuck with antiques. It’s safe to do a little updating as long as you carry through on the general looks. So go ahead, have your dishwashers and use them, too.
Pretty white AGA Fully Integrated Dishwasher with 6 Wash Cycles. Matches the white beveled AGA refrigerator above.

And Even Elegant Microwave Ovens

Push some buttons on the Sharp Pro 24 Microwave in stainless steel. They’re pre-set.

For a single bulb lighting fixture, I’m in deep like with the Corsica Pendant Lamp.
